An ex-pat client living in Hong Kong, who comes to Sydney regularly, invited Agius Design Interiors to design and manage his Sydney apartment renovation. When it was purchased in 2021 the unit was in need of a facelift.
The brief called for a design with warmth and contemporary design flair to accommodate a family of 4. Opening the kitchen to expand the feel of the apartment was a major element in the design.Agius Design Interiors' solution incorporated the flooring with removing a wall and placing an island bench as te heart of the home. The bathroom felt small and dingy though the client wanted a bath retained for that touch of luxury. The laundry was converted into a powder room whilst maintaining the laundry function.
The client’s love of earthy colours and Tasmanian oak was the transformation style guide for the floor, benchtop and feature tiles and tapware. The chosen surfaces take advantage of the unit’s light filled position and enhance the view resulting in a renovation that feels so much lighter.
Now transformed, the apartment features an open kitchen, updated bathroom, and earthy tones, creating a warm, modern space for a family of four
BEFORE: This Sydney apartment, purchased in 2021, needed a complete facelift. The kitchen and bathroom were cramped, lacking warmth and functionality.
