1. The Prayer Room
The brief was to design and oversee the fit-out of the Prayer room. The temple doors were imported from India while the house was under construction. Inspiration for the tiles and niche came from the rustic, highly textured finish and the variety of timber tones of the doors.
We were commissioned to design and provide the following elements within the freestanding mini-temple:
A plinth for the statue
The clients’ wanted an air of opulence created in the decoration and design
Extensive use of marble
Interior & exterior (non-slip) tiles
Incorporate the client's chosen floor mosaic
Decorative Lighting to highlight the statue
Underfloor heating
2. Execution of the Project
We provided the following services:
Design of the plinth and selection of finishes to compliment the area as a whole
Lighting selections were presented to the client with quotes
Within the design, suggested wall tiles to create a niche area
Selected, recommended & quoted all floor tiles
Nominated paint colour scheme
Project Management involved:-
Initiating quotations & overseeing installation, working closely with joiners & stonemason
Arranging purchase & installation of lights with the electrician
Selecting, quoting & organising installation of underfloor heating
Calling for quotations from various selected tilers & negotiating price with the successful tiler
Working with the tiler on the detailed tile setout of the 3 surfaces
Detail - the ordering of mosaic, grout colour etc.
All in all - a very pleasing result and the clients were thrilled.
